SevenZer League Cricket, the most unique and shortest format of cricket league, successfully accomplished its third edition on 27th August, 2016 at Helsinki- Finland. Sevenzer League organized by a Nepalese based registered cricket club;Nepal Cricket Club Ry, Finland - Everest 8848, accepts all the participation regardless of nationality boundaries. The name Sevenzer evolves from its unique format of the game which occupies 7 players and 7 overs innings. The popularity of the league and its professional management propelled the league to accompany 11 teams in the third edition, 2 teams more than previous edition.
Khukuri CC remains unbeaten in the series as for the second time they are capped the WINNERS – title. The same team grab the first ever –SevenZer League- Winners title back in the year 2014. Club8848 won the toss and elected to bat, S.Jha started briskly hitting 3 boundaries in the first over . However his partner S.Aryal couldn’t accompany him and fell prey to Bibek’s first delivery. After Aryal’s dismissal, Jha played till the end to settle club8848 for a decent score of 64/5 in 7 overs. Jha remains unbeaten scoring 35 of just 17 deliveries, while on the other hand captain Deuja assisted him scoring 17 of 15 deliveries before his dismissal on the sixth over.
Chasing a target of 65, Khukuri cc started briskly in the gloomy light; Vinod Kandaballi maintains
the rocketing start scoring 19 runs in just 7 balls before he got caught to Deuja’s delivery. After kandaballi’s dismissal, Saroj and Ritesh took team to the victory scoring 13 and 15* respectively. Khukuri cc once again was able to hold the winning trophy for the second time.
Khukuri CC beats CricHunters Koivukula (last year defending champion), and Club 8848 beats Nordic Warriors to clash each other in the Final.
Bibek Dhakal from Khukuri CC was the Most Valuable player of the tournament while Sekhar Aryal and Roshan Deuja from Club8848 managed to be the Best Batsman and Best bowler of the League. Sagar Thapa was the best fielder and Mr Aryal the best wicket keeper . Sanju Shrestha from Deurali CC took the most 6's awards. Mr Aryal(66) and Mr Deuja(5wk) took the highest individual score and most wickets in an innings trophy respectively. CricHunters Koivukyla grabbed the FairPlay/Best Manager trophy,
Mr Jyoti Kharel.,Proprietor of Ravintola Basecamp, was the main sponsor of the event. Mr Kharel ,a sport enthusiasts and a well-known personality amongst Nepalese community in Finland has been sponsoring Sevenzer League since its establishment in 2014. On the other hand Ravintola Mero Nepal assisted with the fooding requirements.
